From July 19 to 23, 2026, the 2026 IEEE Power & Energy Society General Meeting (PESGM) was held in Montréal, Canada. As one of the most influential international academic conferences in the field of power systems, this year’s PESGM attracted leading scholars and engineering experts in power and energy from around the world to discuss the technical challenges and cutting‑edge solutions facing modern power systems.

Dr. Yu Liu was invited to attend the conference and served as a panelist in the session titled “AI based Transmission Line Fault Location Schemes with Field Data Validation.” This panel focused on the frontier applications of artificial intelligence in transmission line fault location, with particular attention to the practical progress of AI‑based fault location schemes validated with field data. During the session, Dr. Liu shared the latest research results from his group on transmission line fault localization that integrates data‑driven approaches with physical information.
